1. Agreement
These terms are between you and Profscann (see Privacy Policy for operator details). By using the service you accept them, along with our Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these terms.
If you are using Profscann on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.
2. What Profscann is — and what it is not
Profscann performs automated checks on websites, servers and source code, and reports what it finds.
Read this part properly, because it is the part people get wrong. An automated scan finds a specific set of known issues. It cannot find every vulnerability in your site. A high score, an A grade, or a report with no findings means these particular checks passed — nothing more. It does not mean your site is secure, and you must not represent it to customers, insurers, auditors or regulators as if it did.
In particular, Profscann does not and cannot detect: business logic flaws, vulnerabilities that only appear at runtime or under specific conditions, weaknesses behind authentication that we were not given access to, compromised credentials, insider threats, social engineering, or anything in a system we did not scan.
Profscann is not a substitute for a professional penetration test, a security audit, or qualified professional advice.
AI-generated content
Some guidance, summaries and remediation code are generated by an AI model from your scan results. We ground it strictly in what was actually found and instruct it never to invent vulnerabilities or claim a site is secure. It is still generated text and can be wrong.
Always read a configuration change before applying it to a live site, and always have a way to undo it. You are responsible for what you deploy.
3. Your account
- Give accurate registration details and keep your password to yourself.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@profscann.com if you think it has been compromised.
- You must be at least 16.
- You may delete your account at any time from Account security. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
4. Authorisation to scan
You may only scan systems you own or are authorised to test. This is set out in full in the Acceptable Use Policy and it is the single condition we will terminate an account over without warning.
You are solely responsible for having that authorisation, and you agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss or expense arising from you scanning something you were not entitled to scan.
5. The Sentinel guard
Sentinel generates code that you install on your own server and run under your own control. This creates a shared responsibility worth stating plainly.
What we do: generate the code, keep the detection patterns specific enough that ordinary content does not match them, make every call back to us fail silently so we cannot break your site, and default every new sentinel to watch-only.
What is yours: reviewing the code before you install it, testing it, choosing when to switch from watch mode to blocking, and monitoring the result.
Blocking mode returns a 403 to requests that match an attack pattern. No pattern set is perfect. If a rule matches something a real customer sent, that customer is blocked. That is why the service ships in watch-only mode and tells you to leave it there for at least 24 hours — so you can see what would have been blocked before anything is.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost traffic, lost sales, or other loss arising from the guard blocking a request, failing to block a request, or being modified by you.
6. Free service, and future charges
Profscann is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans in future. If we do:
- features you use today will not silently start charging — we will tell registered users by email before any charge applies;
- prices, billing periods and refund terms will be published before you are asked to pay;
- you will always be able to decline and stop using the paid features.
Because the service is free, we make no commitment about uptime and may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it. We will give reasonable notice of a permanent shutdown so you can export your data.
7. Ownership
Yours
You keep all rights to your websites, your source code, your data, and the reports generated about them. Uploading code for an audit gives us permission to process it for the purpose of running that audit, and nothing more. It is deleted when the audit finishes.
You may share, publish and use your own reports however you like, including with clients.
Ours
The Profscann name, logo, the service itself, its detection rules, its written guidance and its interface remain ours. These terms do not give you a licence to copy them, to build a competing product from them, or to systematically extract our content.
The guard code we generate for your site is yours to use, modify and keep on your own systems for as long as you like, including after you stop using Profscann.
Aggregate statistics
We publish anonymised, aggregate statistics about web security drawn from scans — for example, what percentage of scanned sites lack a Content-Security-Policy. These never identify a site, a person, or an account.
8. Liability
Profscann is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, loss of business, or any security incident affecting your systems — whether or not Profscann detected it, failed to detect it, or reported it inaccurately.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD 100.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Profscann at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service.
On termination your right to use the service ends. Sections covering ownership, liability, indemnity and governing law survive.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and registered users will be emailed where the change significantly affects them. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change. If you do not, stop using the service and delete your account.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you that right.
